another custom modelled 3D papercraft based on 2D sprites. This time it's Princess Zelda, and she was actually a lot harder (to build the 3D model of) than Link because of the lack of any side or back sprites. 
I had to make up my own, which was the first time I've ever attempted something like that. Anyway, I'm very happy with how it came out, and I actually like her better than Link! Unsure whether to do some more complicated sprites next, or some enemies from Loz (the NES game.) Maybe it should be Ganon next...

Well, there isn't really a special way, it's just like building any other 3D model. It helps to have a front and a side sprite to work from, then you really just need to put them together in your mind and figure out where everything goes...
When it comes to actually making it, I just duplicate lots of squares, then join up all the double vertices and get rid of all the unwanted internal ones.

It's quite simple really.
That is so awesome. Great job with the back and side! That sounds unbelievable difficult to make up. >.<
